Serve with Joy

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy.  O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, but to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love.  For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.  St. Francis of Assisi Peace Prayer

First United Methodist Church embodies service to others through programs and opportunities within the church and in the community.  Being a disciple of Jesus Christ involves more than growing in our knowledge, belief, and worship. It involves action.  Servanthood is the practice by which the love of God becomes a tangible reality in our lives and through which we become active participants in God’s transformation of the world.  God has given everyone unique gifts, personalities, passions, natural abilities and talents to be used to serve others.  Every disciple is called and needed in the ministry of the church.

First Church wants to help us discover our gifts and find our place to serve, supporting us as we serve each other and in the community.  The diagram and the link to the brochure highlights many of the opportunities available to serve.  Prayerfully consider your next step to discover and experience God’s love for you.
